New teams, format and prizes for upcoming 2019/20 Colorado Super League season

Colorado Super League, the state’s only recognized United State Adult Soccer Association (USASA) State Premier League, is set to kick-off on Sunday, August 18. The new season includes a year-long international calendar format + play-offs in June 2020, along with mid-season incentives.

Format: The 2019/20 season will run from August – November 2019 and restart March-June 2020. There will be a total of 13 teams in the league, with each team having 16 guaranteed regular season games, 8 in Fall & 8 in Spring. There will be no play-offs until June 2020, with the top 4 teams qualifying to semifinals in single-game elimination games until a Champion is crowned.

Prizes and Rewards: Come June 2020 after the 16 regular season games, $7,000 in cash prizes will be in play, $6,000 to the Champion and $1,000 to the Runner-Up. While there is no cash prize given to the teams after Fall season concludes, there are two important incentives for teams to fight for top of the table.

  1. Regional Competition: 2019 Region IV Four Corners Amateur Championships will take place the first week of December in Phoenix, Arizona. The team that finishes first in standings this Fall will join Spring 2019 Colorado Super League Champions, Logroñes Denver SC, as the two best amateur teams representing Colorado in a clash against the best sides from Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. If Logroñes Denver SC were to finish in first place, the second-place team will be granted the entry to the Region IV Four Corners Amateur Championships. All four state associations involved are currently still working on the prizes for the 2019 Region IV Four Corners Amateur Championships. Colorado Soccer Association will pay the entry fees to this regional tournament.
  2. CSA Adult State Cup 2020 Cash Credit: In addition to the 2019 Region IV Four Corners Amateur Championships, the two teams that finish top of the table will earn $500 credit towards their CSA State Cup 2020 registration fee. CSA Adult State Cup is the only State Cup that ultimately leads to the Fritz Marth National Amateur Cup organized by United States Adult Soccer Association. Fields: Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will be home to Colorado Super League for the majority of the games. Stenger Soccer Complex along with various stadium venues across the Denver Metro area will be hosting games as well for league play. 2019/20 Colorado Super League Final will be played at a stadium venue, to be determined.
